"I came to this book as a skeptic, looking for clear, logical reasoning from the author. Instead, I found that the reader is expected to accept the premise that the Bible is the true "word of God" and, as such, is infallible - the ultimate truth! With that as a starting point, the author can then define reason, logic, and any other device to "prove" his argument when, in fact, if one accepts his premise, there can BE no argument! In essence, he says, "OK - this is MY game, MY ball, MY field, MY rules - so, let's play ball!" "
Essentially this is correct, except that it is God's game, God's ball, God's field, and God's rules. So I guess we are going to have to play it his way.
Dr. Lisle shows this by striping down the opposing world views to their core. Once you look at the most basic assumptions put forth by a position, it becomes quite clear if it is a viable position or not. Evolution is not. In fact the only one that can is Biblical Christianity. I have spent time arguing with atheists using points made in this book, and they have proven irrefutable.
A good example of this type of reasoning in action is The Great Debate. The speakers were Dr Greg Bahnsen and Dr Gorden Stine and it took place at the University of California (Irvine). I would encourage anyone who believes that they have an open mind to check it out.
I was greatly encouraged by this book and plan on purchasing more of them to give to friends and family.
